The Montagues, the Capulets, and the Romeo

The feud between the Capulets and the Montague is getting out of hand! Violent fights have been breaking out in the streets of Verona. Someone needs to stop this madness before they start killing each other. Killing because you want to is a mortal sin. Unlike theft or simply hatred, it cannot be easily forgiven. To this day I do not understand their motivations for fighting. It all started when Lord Montague and Lord Capulet were competing for the same girl during their teen years. Before this competition, however, they were the best of friends. Of course they met the girl, greed and jealousy tore them apart. In the end, Lord Montague won the heart of the girl and left Lord Capulet filled with rage and jealousy. Since then, the Montagues and Capulets have been enemies. In my eyes, these are such foolish reasons to be fighting for. But, maybe that's just because I am a friar.

Speaking of Montagues, I am currently mentoring a Montague by the name of Romeo. He's such a sweet child, confused at times, but sweet nonetheless. Everyday he comes to my cell asking for advice. I show him the Bible and help lead him to a path that would take him to Heaven. Recently he's been coming to me for advice about a girl named Rosaline. I do not not if he knows he is a Capulet or not but he's never stopped talking about her. Quite frankly I am getting a little irritated. Not to mention I actually have no experience with love. I see Romeo walking to my cell outside, perhaps he wants more advice about Rosaline. I must go now and somehow offer him the advice he needs. May God bless you and your family.

An obnoxious artist sent me this drawing of the Montagues and Capulets fighting.
